Not long ago I was on a trip. I was listening to the passengers. Primarily these people were not birders in any way but they were nice people with many common interests with each other. One dear lady said “You seem to see a lot more birds than I do.” To me that sounded like an invitation to explore birds with her. Her urban life surely explained her total lack of interest in outdoor activities She could not identify a dogwood tree or a vulture if her life depended upon it. But I am an educator,so we continued to share. I never guessed it would be worthwhile to reach for my birding binoculars.
